Wheat Harvest in the State Reached 83% of the Area, According to Emater-RS

In the past seven days, soybean planting in Rio Grande do Sul advanced significantly, rising from 23% to 40% of the area, according to data from Emater-RS, released on Thursday (November 14).

This year’s planting is well ahead of the 23% planted at this time last year but remains below the 53% average for the period.

Emater reported that in some regions of the state, particularly in the northwest and the Western Border, a reduction in rainfall in early November led to a sharp decline in soil moisture levels, which hindered the safe continuation of planting.

Despite this, weather conditions have been favorable for the crop, maintaining adequate soil moisture for the mechanical planting process as well as for seed germination and plant emergence.

The weather has also been beneficial for the wheat harvest in Rio Grande do Sul, which reached 83% of the area, slightly lower than the 85% harvested last year but ahead of the 79% average.

In the western regions of the state, the harvesting work has already been completed. In the eastern areas, however, the harvest has only reached 10% of the area.

Regarding the quality of the harvested wheat, the results are below average in the northwest and southern regions of the state. However, in the Plateau and northwestern regions, the results are satisfactory.
