Record-breaking performance with the highest volume and revenue ever registered in a September month
In September 2024, Brazil exported the equivalent of 4.5 million 60-kg bags of coffee, marking a historic record for the month and a 33.3% increase compared to September 2023. Exports of Arabica coffee (Coffea arabica) accounted for 71.6% of the total, with 3.2 million bags shipped. Meanwhile, Coffea canephora (which includes Conilon and Robusta varieties) contributed 20.4% with 911,800 bags, and instant coffee represented 8% of the total, with exports equivalent to 355,000 bags.
Revenue from Brazilian coffee exports hit an all-time high for a September month, generating $1.19 billion, reflecting an 84.5% increase compared to the same month in 2023. The average price per bag was $267.48, a 38.4% increase from September 2023.
Year-to-Date Performance: January to September 2024
In the first nine months of 2024, Brazil exported 36.42 million bags, a 38.7% increase over the same period in 2023. During this period, export revenues rose by 51.9%, reaching $8.45 billion, both marking historic records.
Focusing on specialty coffees—which are known for superior quality or sustainable certifications—Brazil exported 6.64 million bags from January to September 2024, a 51.6% increase over 2023. Specialty coffee represented 18.2% of total exports for this period, generating $1.7 billion in revenue, an increase of 62.9%. The average price for these specialty bags was $254.67, and they accounted for 20% of the total coffee export revenue in 2024.

The top 10 destinations for Brazilian coffee exports during the first nine months of 2024 were:
- United States – 5.77 million bags (15.8% of total), a 31.9% increase over 2023
- Germany – 5.36 million bags (14.7%), with a 70.7% increase
- Belgium – 3.33 million bags (9.1%), an impressive 131.46% growth
- Italy – 3.02 million bags (8.3%)
- Japan – 1.63 million bags (4.5%)
- Spain – 1.23 million bags (3.4%), an 84% increase
- Netherlands – 1.15 million bags (3.2%)
- Turkey – 982,500 bags (2.7%)
- United Kingdom – 948,200 bags (2.6%)
- Russia – 863,000 bags (2.4%), a 79.4% increase
