The gross revenue from coffee production in Brazil reached R$ 71.93 billion in the first nine months of 2024, marking a 41.32% increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to data from Embrapa Café.
Arabica and Canephora Performance
The total revenue encompasses two main coffee varieties: arabica and canephora (including robusta and conilon). Of the total:
- R$ 52.80 billion came from arabica sales, accounting for 73.4% of the total volume. This represents a 36.11% increase compared to 2023, when revenue from arabica reached R$ 38.79 billion.
- Canephora revenue amounted to R$ 19.12 billion, contributing 26.6% of the sector’s total. This variety showed 57.88% growth year-over-year, driven by higher export demand due to global supply issues, including a crop failure in Vietnam’s robusta production.
Regional Contributions
The Southeast region led coffee production and revenue, accounting for 86.8% of the sector’s gross income, with its coffee parks heavily focused on arabica cultivation. Other regional contributions include:
- Northeast: 6.86%
- North: 4.30%
- South: 1.17%
- Central-West: Less than 1%, with production concentrated mainly in Goiás.
This strong performance reflects rising export demand and Brazil’s capacity to fill supply gaps in the global coffee market.
