Brazil has secured its eighth agricultural market opening in Peru this year with the approval to export apples. This move adds to a series of successful market expansions, which have previously included Brazilian exports of yerba mate, cassava meal, coconut fiber, dried cloves, hay, and bovine and swine hemoderivatives.
In 2023, Brazil’s agricultural exports to Peru exceeded US$ 724 million, driven primarily by forest products, meats, and soybeans. Between January and September 2024, the value of exports had already reached US$ 548 million.
Brazil’s apple exports alone surpassed US$ 30 million in 2023, reaching nearly 100 countries. With this new market access, Brazilian agribusiness has now achieved its 194th market opening this year, bringing the total number of market openings since the beginning of 2023 to 272, spanning 61 different destinations.
These achievements are the result of coordinated efforts between Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
