Soybean farmers in Goiás have until January 17, 2025, to complete their registration.

The Goiás Agency for Agricultural Defense (Agrodefesa) reminds soybean producers in the state of the need to register their fields in the Agricultural Defense System (Sidago).

Field registration is mandatory and is outlined in Normative Instruction 06/2024, which establishes a maximum deadline of 15 days after the end of the planting calendar—meaning registration must be completed by January 17, 2025.

So far, producers in Goiás have planted 26.4% of the expected soybean area for the 2024/25 harvest, according to data from consulting firm Pátria Agronegócios.

Agrodefesa emphasizes that registration is also part of the National Soybean Rust Control Program (PNCFS) and aims to assist in the prevention and control of pests as well as in plant health actions.

“Currently, Goiás is the fourth largest soybean producer in Brazil, and this national ranking position is only possible due to the commitment of farmers and the work of Agrodefesa in sanitary defense. Therefore, we urge producers to follow all measures established by the Agency or the Ministry of Agriculture, such as field registration, as these actions are implemented to ensure plant health and prevent economic losses in agriculture,” stated José Ricardo Caixeta Ramos, president of Agrodefesa, in a statement.

How to Register Your Field?
To register their fields, producers must complete the registration on the Sidago website. Within the tool, they need to provide information about the planted area, the type of cultivar used, the planting date, and the expected harvest date. They are also required to submit the CNPJ (tax ID) from where the seed was purchased, or indicate if the seed was produced by the producer themselves, along with information about whether the crop is irrigated or not.

After completing the electronic registration, the producer must print the boleto (payment slip) generated by the system and make the corresponding payment. The registration will only be validated after payment confirmation, ensuring that all steps have been properly completed. Information about the procedures is available on the Sidago website.

Field registration must occur annually to identify them for verification of phytosanitary requirements in Goiás, as explained by the Plant Health Manager, Daniela Rézio.

“The registration allows Agrodefesa to map the location of soybean fields throughout the state, making sanitary education actions and pest prevention and control measures, such as for soybean rust, more efficient. This facilitates our planning and enables us to alert producers about the importance of complying with these measures, which help minimize economic losses,” she noted.
