Many producers have been postponing the cassava harvest, mainly due to profitability, which is limited.

As of October, Brazil. The average price of cassava root for industrial use reached R$648.74 per ton last week, marking a 3% increase compared to the previous period, according to the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea) at Esalq/USP. This increase represents the 20th consecutive weekly gain.

Since mid-May, when prices hit their lowest point of the year, the cumulative increase has reached 59.8%. Over the past 12 months, prices have risen 8.2% in real terms.

Cepea researchers note that while the earlier price surge was driven by strong demand, the recent increases have been largely influenced by a reduced supply.

Many farmers are postponing their cassava harvests due to limited profitability, which is being affected by lower yields and reduced starch content in the crop.
