Ceagesp Anticipates 3% Increase in Sales for the Period
The Day of the Deceased holiday on November 2 is expected to drive a rise in flower sales at the São Paulo Terminal Market (ETSP), with a forecast of 251 tons of flowers sold, according to the São Paulo Warehousing and Wholesale Company (Ceagesp). This figure represents a 3% growth compared to the 244 tons sold during the same period in 2023, amounting to R$ 4.1 million in total sales.
In 2023, chrysanthemums were the top-sellers, accounting for 13.1% of all flowers sold, followed by succulents (12.1%) and kalanchoes (9.5%).
Key Sales Dates
Ceagesp expects most of the sales volume to occur during the Flower Fairs, which are scheduled for:
- October 24-25
- October 28-29
- October 31 to November 1
In 2023, the fair held on October 30-31 alone represented 36% of the total sales for the holiday period.
Regional Sales
In addition to the ETSP, flowers will also be sold at Ceagesp branches across the interior of São Paulo, including Araçatuba, Bauru, and Ribeirão Preto. Operating hours for these units are available on the official Ceagesp website.
With Day of the Faithful Deceased traditionally being a time when many people visit cemeteries to honor loved ones, the flower market is anticipating steady demand, especially for ornamental varieties.
