Analyses Detected Unidentified Vegetable Oils in the Products
The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) has issued a new consumer alert regarding 12 olive oil brands that were disqualified for fraud.
The banned brands are:
- Grego Santorini
- La Ventosa
- Alonso
- Quintas D’Oliveira
- Olivas Del Tango
- Vila Real
- Quinta de Aveiro
- Vincenzo
- Don Alejandro
- Almazara
- Escarpas das Oliveiras
- Garcia Torres
Based on physicochemical tests, these products failed to meet the identity and quality standards established by Normative Instruction No. 01/2012, rendering them unfit for consumption.
The analyses found the presence of unidentified vegetable oils mixed into the olive oil, compromising the quality and safety of the products. The lack of transparency regarding the origin of these oils poses a health risk to consumers.
Some companies behind these brands have had their corporate tax numbers (CNPJs) suspended or revoked by the Federal Revenue Service, further raising suspicion of fraud. Selling these products constitutes a serious offense, and retailers continuing to offer them may face penalties.
Consumers who purchased these brands should stop using them immediately and seek replacements in accordance with the Consumer Protection Code. Reports of fraudulent product sales can be made through the official channel Fala.BR, specifying the place of purchase.
This operation is part of a series of actions by Mapa to combat fraud in the olive oil market, identified as the second most-frauded food product in the world.

- Opt for products with the most recent bottling date.
