The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock announced that 19 Brazilian meat plants have been approved to export beef, pork, horse, and poultry products to South Africa. With these recent authorizations, the total number of Brazilian establishments cleared to export animal protein to the African nation now stands at 28, including facilities that recently updated their certification status.
According to the Ministry, the newly approved plants are spread across nine Brazilian states. São Paulo tops the list with six plants, followed by Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul, Santa Catarina, Minas Gerais, Bahia, Goiás, and Rio de Janeiro. The approvals cover eight beef plants, two equine plants, five pork plants, and 13 poultry plants.
The Ministry emphasized Brazil’s global leadership in the meat trade for 2024, having exported over 7 million tons from January to date.
